Below are the audition requirements.  All students are encouraged to be enrolled in private lessons within a month of joining Urban Strings.

Auditions will be held August 29th, 2026 from 9 AM - 1 PM at Fort Hayes Performing Arts Building 546 Jack Gibbs Blvd. Columbus, OH 43215. Students are expected to understand bow mechanics such as finger, wrist, and arm movements. They should be able to make small, quick adjustments to improve intonation and tone quality.

Students should play:

 Scales

•   D, A, or G major scale (2 octave) choose two

 

 Prepared Piece

• Students will perform a prepared piece of their choosing​

Prepared Excerpt

•   Students will be asked to play Brandenburg Concerto (musician will choose the part they are auditioning for. For example: if you are auditioning for violin 1 prepare 'Violin 1 - Brandenburg' )​​​
