Requisitos de audición

Below are the audition requirements.  All students are encouraged to be enrolled in private lessons within a month of joining Urban Strings.

If you are selected to join Urban Strings Columbus there is a monthly fee required

 

Half Notes (Intermediate):

​

The Half Notes Orchestra is the intermediate ensemble within Urban Strings Columbus. This ensemble meets on Saturdays from 9:30-10:45 AM at Columbus State Community College and is under the direction of Mrs. Chelsea Daniel Eades. Half Notes students are expected to understand bow mechanics such as finger, wrist, and arm movements. They should be able to make small, quick adjustments to improve intonation and tone quality.

Students should play:

 Scales

•   D, A, or G major scale (1 octave) choose two

 

 Prepared Piece

• Students will perform Telemann Sinfonia  

              Violin and Viola  (Measures 39-57)              Cello and Bass   (Measures 39-57)      

              Violin                  Viola                    Cello                    Bass

  

 Sight reading 

•   Students will be given a piece and asked to sight read a few measures. (chosen by conductors)

Premier (Advanced):

​

Students should play:

 Scales

•    Choose 2 two octave scales

 

 Prepared Piece

• Students will perform Sinfonia in D 

  • Violin- measure 1-23​

  • Viola- measure 17-23, 65-70

  • Cello- measure 12-23

  • Bass- measure 1-16

​

 Sight reading 

•   Students will be given a piece and asked to sight read a few measures. (chosen by conductors)
